Iguanas Overun Florida

I posted this message in the Florida Gardening forum, several posters said that Iguanas are now common on the West Coast of Florida and north of Palm Beach County.

At my former home in Davie in Broward County (Florida), the iguana population exploded within the past few years. Iguanas rest on canal banks, iguanas climb trees and iguanas cross busy highways. I had 2 iguanas living on my neighbors' roof, and saw a 3 foot iguana lose his tail when struck by a car on Griffin Road. Since I've moved to Palm City in Martin County, I haven't noticed any iguanas. Are the iguanas headed northward from Dade and Broward? The iguana explosion has been the subject of many newspaper stories in Broward. What impact will their spread have on other species?
