Chippies, goldfinches, and bluebirds, Oh MY! Nice pictures, Kara! I still haven't seen a single goldfinch this year, but I suspect the big, fat HAWK who sits in the center of my bird feeder tray in the afternoons is the main reason, haha. I wouldn't want to dine there, either. I have seen a few chipping sparrows, like yours, and my cardinals, and today a hummingbird, but most of my songbirds and migrating friends are lying low, hoping the hawk will leave. Marcia

I've been over to Dan's and it's beautiful, especially the rock garden area which wasn't even completely done when I was there. Dan, do you have any more TALL canna to trade? I took a few pieces of the green leaf orange flower last year and they did OK but never got as tall as I would have liked (I'm trying a new location next year). I'd really like something that has huge hot pink or red flowers. Tropicana was outstanding. Not all of the pieces flowered, but the leaves kept their nice color in the partly sunny area I put them in. Larry

There were over 100 dead birds that dropped over in Geyserville, CA off the 1010 Freeway this past Saturday. There were also a rather large number of Rooks and Choughs over in Sweden that died.....not to mention the birds in Arkansas, Kentucky, Italy and the fish, crabs, etc. in various places around the world. All in clusters, all falling on or near or within two weeks of, the New Year. Scientists are saying that mass die-offs are very common in birds, especially in winter....as for the fish and sea-creatures, they're saying red tides are on the increase in those areas. So this is hard to pin point....and don't get me started on the conspiracy theorists....egads. Thank GOD He is Sovereign over *all* of it. (Colossians 1: 19-20)

Hi ribs1, It's a gazebo style feeder, made of metal or aluminum most-likely that I bought at Menards. I feed strictly hulled sunflower seeds, albeit they are very expensive, but there is no waste whatsoever. I also have a suet feeder underneath and about 5' away from it, that I built, and holds two blocks. So far the Red-headed haven't ventured to it, but I bet they will, given enough time. Dax
