The older ducks are being territorial. Pen the young ones in the area, in a secure pen so no predators (weasels, etc) can get to them. Tie the door closed in addition to latching it, make sure nothing can squeeze through the wire, or dig under. Some predators can fit in a 1"x2" opening. This will allow introductions to take place, they can get used to each other w/o the little ones getting picked on, and after a week or 2 the older ducks should come to realize that the new ducks are now a part of the flock (though issues can arise if you have too many males). If you can't secure a 24/7 pen, daytime penning would suffice but will probably take a little longer. Good luck. Be sure to provide food, water, and shelter from sun & wind. Brendasue

Well we get Moose, deer, coyotes, bears, foxes, squirels and a few other critters in the yard every year. We also are on the path of the migrating birds...going south and back north.....they stop in my back yard and clean out the feeders and berries and they are off again. A few stick around like the nuthatches, chickidees, purple finches and some years the white crown sparrows. Oh and the Juncos do a wonderful job keeping the bug populations down in my gardens. Swallows nest on the house across the street every year.....they help with mosquito control. LOL. There are two kinds of hummingbirds that fight over the gardens all summer...those little buggers have a big attitude! We are also visited by 3 kinds of woodpeckers. There are many kinds of butterflys and bees, and the hummingbird moths. And ewwwwwww spiders...lots of spiders...did I say EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! its more like EEEEEKKKKKKKSSSSSSS!!!! I'm sure there is more just can't think of them all. As far as bear safety.....get educated on the subject...don't take chances. Wear bear bells if you are berry picking or out in the woods. Pick fruit as soon as its ready...don't leave any laying around to draw them in. Make sure garbage is in a bear proof container or in a closed garage. Last spring, a pair of mallards was coming every day several times a day to feed under my bird feeder - they were picking fallen seeds and corn on the ground. Sometimes, the male would come alone, but mostly he would show up with his lady (or ladies?). We were joking with my husband that he is bringing his women to this âÂÂfancy restaurantâ for dinner to impress them. Closer to the summer time, the male started to come alone (probably, his wife was on the nest already) and later he disappeared too - I guess, when ducklings hatched, they became too busy and stopped their fancy dinner outings.

Goose! Oh Cynic, I am heartbroken. This is the first issue ever that we've not seen eye-to-eye on. Oh woe is me and my duck, duck, and GOOSE! LOL You unpack your groceries properly; you hang tissue paper properly; you keep house properly. Pack a bag and come visit. You, me, Harry, Sam, Wes, and the neighbors will play "Duck, Duck, Goose" until you get the hang of it! LOL Then my world will be properly back on its axis.
