Thanks for this post and the link to the Bresse chicken pictures. I have been following this thread with interest. I go to a poultry auction on Friday nights and several times birds have come through that I have never heard of, and most of these times no one else there seems to know them either. So they sell at a low bid. I come home and get online and look them up to find that I have passed up some good deals on birds that are hard to find, and expensive to buy. Thanks to this thread I was prepared ahead of time when a young group of Gray Bresse chickens came up for bid tonight. I bought one rooster and 6 hens tonight for $3 each. The blue legs and the tail set, carriage and coloring were identicle to the picture, so I sat back and waited for them to come up for bid, hoping I was the only one there that saw this thread....lol. There is someone around there that drops off their extras of some really nice birds. Several weeks ago I purchased 5 aseel (asil) chicks, that were shipped in from Pakistan. People thought the auctioneer was joking about it and I took a chance on them and bought them for $1 a chick. Having chickens is a hobby for me and I have been looking for a couple breeds that would have enough value to cover the cost of their feed and upkeep. When these get to egg laying age I will try to sell the eggs on Ebay or EggBid. Thanks, and wish me luck! Carrie

the last thing i usually hear.. after the after school snack.. is a yell... I AM GOING TO THE SAND PIT.. and the door slamming shut ... mine are 12 and 9 ... there is no joy in the world for them .. greater than the feel of sand/mud in their toes .... imagine the hose running for 5 hours.. and a bunch of kids wallowing in it ... you confused me.. move what.. not the DR???? i said it was proper from the back view .... or do you mean the mulch for them to dig????? and the red headed white freckled dwarf needed shade.. but does he play under it.. noooooo .... and thank god i am honored to shame someone out of their whiskey barrels.. but i too have used them for water gardens... and that is not a basis for shame.. that is inspired ... i actually had 5 cent goldfish that grew to 8 inches.. living in a full whiskey barrel with a heater and pump.. live for 5 years [z5 winter and all] ... truly rats with gills ... so .... as long as you dont tip them over... and use them wisely.. dont fret ... and yes.. my wife brought a concrete pig to the marriage .... and no bones.. just 20 feet of yellow sand ... though the glaciers have left some fossils ... i actually had to garbage pic an old green slide.. to put the hose on ... because they were eroding the hill towards the neighbors house .... i think i covered all the questions ... ken

Gardengal Seeing a growth rate of 8-12 inches on mine this year I would go with the higher growth rate. baxz5oh It works for me although several deodar took a slight hit when temps went to -15 here last Winter. no no no paint the back of it black, put some nice gravel in it fill it with some water and let the filter run for a few days, put 6 feeder fish, a few hiding places and some aquarium plants in it. let them live in there for 2 weeks (some may die, flush them). put some bio fluid in the tank then put the same kind of fish you like in it. I would put the same kind plus a couple of scavengers. I would kill to have a tank right now but I have no room for one in here. Usually when your fish die it is from not setting up or maintaining the tank right. patience is the success of the initial set up and then putting compatible fish in. YOU CAN DO IT...have I convinced you yet?
