Snake morph experts id?

Hey all morph masters. Recently acquired this four footer, but can't for the life of me pin down the name. Gentle as a baby, kinda half rat, half king, feeding well, coils around prey but can't climb or scale a branch for beans! All white underneath, above yellowish with some pattern. Any help appreciated.

Nice! Looks like a prarie king to me. Almost positive but I could be wrong. Was it found in the wild?

"I've had no experience with queen snakes." I understand, and I think that this is also true of the others who are calling it a Queen Snake. For Mike and I, who have each seen many, many Queen Snakes and many, many Gartersnakes, it is painfully obvious that this is a Gartersnake. "that lighting and color in photography can be misleading" I see your point very well. But...the camera is not playing tricks here. It shows a dorsal stripe and red banding because they do indeed exist. "...and never seen such a patternless species whether in shed or not" But which is more likely, a Gartersnake with some pattern lacking? or a Queen Snake with a Garter-esque head, dorsal stripe, red-banding, and found far from water? "That being said, I can't be sure of the species." That's really great to hear someone say. I'm glad that someone can admit that they're not "100% sure" it's a Queen Snake, because it is not. This is a Gartersnake. -Todd ...oh, and to keep it interesting, here's a real Queen Snake found a few days ago in western Indiana.

Welcome to modern herpetoculture. You might have an amelanistic prairie king. You might have some sort of mutt hybrid. The seller didn't know, and now neither will you.

At this point, when it comes to kingsnakes, corn snakes, and the like, if you want certain knowledge of what you've got you pretty much have to buy from reputable people who know and can tell you the history of the animal. There are too many hybrids around. Even some of the stuff that looks like a nice clean pure species isn't really trustworthy anymore, if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure that is an amelanistic Prairie King. Look closely; it doesn't have black eyes. They definately look light-colored to me, with a clear delineation between the pupil and the iris.

Good work all. Is that the same thing as albino? Also, a bigger problem than naming him. He's sooooooooooo tame, it makes me sad that he has this uh, condition. Like he has one or more eye caps still attached on one side. I read about using warm water, mineral oil, q tips, tweezers, scotch tape, etc. Water, q tips and scotch tape haven't worked. Please offer some suggestions about how to save the eyesight of just about the most tame and gentle snakes I've EVER encountered.

His eye does appear reddish-pink, like an albino's should be, but he does have a problem. I don't know if it is a stuck eye cap, or an infection. I'd wait until he sheds, and see if the eye improves. You should be able to notice the eye caps on the shed skin, and if you can't find them, you'll know he's retained them. Sometimes, after several eye caps have built up, it's necessary to consult a vet who knows about this problem, but usually they will come off with the next shed, provided that you let the snake soak plenty during his "opaque" cycle. If there's an infection in his eye, a vet will need to prescribe antibiotics.
