This is a brown anole: This is an Eastern Fence Lizard: I've seen other photographs of anole lizards looking like a fence lizard, so maybe it's hard to tell the difference. The anole lizard above doesn't look like mine in that picture, but there were definitely others that were very similar. He's cute I know that and I have no intention to kill him to see his belly, but maybe I can put a clear glass he can crawl on? That will be nice. He prefers my tomato plants is all I'm happy about. They are doing good for as late as they were planted. One bush is loaded with about 12 small green tomatoes.

I had purchased a plant from Gardino Nursery in Fla., and when I opened the package an anole popped out! I caught him, contacted Gardino's - that's what they assumed it was and indicated they were common (as ladygreensleeves mentioned above)and they also mentioned that they often lay their eggs in the potted plants, so I'm betting ladygreensleeves is correct in assuming an egg hatched! I took him home and put him in an aquarium with a screen lid - caught bugs for him, bought him baby food as suggested on another internet forum....but he escaped! We never did find him! I also got some Bilbergia broms in trade a few years back, and a treefrog hopped out of the box! I was at work, he escaped, and hid - I tried, but never found him, either.

I made one last year. I used copper colored Rustoleum hammered metal spray paint. It gives a textured effect to the surface without having to rub off paint. I used plastic lizards I bought at $ Tree and GE Silicone II to glue them to the BB. I painted the BB and the lizards separately. After I had attached the little critters I touched up the paint. I made a frog ball too using green hammered finish spray paint, it turned out really cute. I had trouble with the frogs though, they're made of a softer plastic than were the lizards. The softer plastic reacted with the paint and the whole thing took weeks to dry completely. The paint dried just fine on the BB but the little froggies stayed sticky/tacky for quite awhile. Must be the type of plastic or maybe they're vinyl....I don't know. Hope this helps, have fun!

You won't get bitten by one unless you grab it. They don't run out and attack you or anything. No problem there, right? And it's the overall damage they are doing to the environment, just like Cuban treefrogs, but on a smaller scale. So far. South Florida is so full of exotics, it is really sad. So many beautiful animals that don't belong here are displacing beautiful animals that DO. Marcia
