If your birdbath is off the ground then you most certainly have Tree Frog Eggs! I am so jealous! The problem with leaving them in the bird bath is the birds will destroy and eat the new tadpoles. ALSO... the fish will eat tree frog tadpoles as well sometimes as they are not toxic to fish like toad tadpoles. If you have a small 20 gallon container you can put them in and get alage growth (in the sun) that would be fantastic for them.

futureprodigy, When you're through with your demonstration of frog development, keep the adults in an aquarium or kill them. Please don't release them. The places I know that sell frogs eggs, sell them for educational purposes only. They're not meant for stocking ponds and are not screened for diseases. Not unlike the little turtles that are illegal to personally own because of the health risk, but still can sold for educational purposes. Also, the species of frog eggs you receive may or may not be what you ordered. The companies will substitute depending on availability. Usually this is stated somewhere in fine print but not always since the "product" is meant for educational purposes. You might very well receive eggs from a species not native to your area.

I'm in zone 7. Isn't it too early for frog eggs now?! I was walking yesterday following a stream and when it got to a shady, slow moving part, I saw a huge mass of frog eggs. They were pretty large but there's probably no way to id them until they're froglets, right? I mean, if that ever happens. I thought a freeze would kill them?

OK then- spotted salamander. You can raise them in an aquarium. Use pondwater for tiny food source.Feed with small worms, etc. as they grow. Graduate to terrarium with water bowl later. Paul.
