They will probably follow some undeciphered rule and disperse over the neighborhood so they are not crowded. I generally move any I see sitting in the road and am happy to say I have seen others do the same. There does not seem to be much a person can do beyond this (unless you want to pen or cage them, this being illegal to do) because I am convinced they somehow develop a distance between individuals that is breached only briefly during mating. You were priveleged to see the new babies and the nest, as, after many years of having them around, I have never seen this.

hey, your both of your responses were fun! OH yes, we tried moving them, but they seem to make their way back. Last year we were aware of 6 different turtles. One day we went out and three were in at the same time! One is rather persistent and has been returning for the past few years. We do like seeing them in the yard and want to try to protect them, since they are not found in in our area like they use to be years ago. Guess we will just have to put up a higher and more secure barrier. The plastic netting and 1 inch high brick does not work. Your responses did make me chuckle. Yes, they are pestering the berries and nope, they are not hard to catch!

I'm no expert on box turtles and I don't know how much an issue hibernation is in your part of Texas. I do know from writing about found wild reptiles that removing them from their home range can be a death sentence once winter arrives . Unable to locate their usual hubernation area - according to the herpetologists I have spoken to (I was once a newspaper reporter) - a snake or turtle will continue to search for their usual hibernation spot until they finally die from exposure. A good cage and long life might beat a few more months of freedom. You might try posting the question on the "field herp forum" and see what help you can get.
