Oklahoma Trip (turtle Id)

I went to Oklahoma for a little road cuising with my brother in law this weekend. Our intentions were to find a pigmy rattlesnake and to stay both nights until we found one but we got a little discouraged after only finding one minutes after a car hit it. For some reason every snake we found was freshly run over. We didnt find one live snake that night so we moved farther west to find diamondbacks.

The second night was a little beter. Not one road kill. We were fortunate enough to find a huge ranch in the canyons that had numerous roads that cut though them. There we found a diamondback, a speckled king, a black rat, and a great plains rat. The next mourning we found a DOR massasauga. Not bad.

Both nights we were on the road from 6 to 12 and the only time we saw anything was from 9 to 10. I hoped to find a hog before the sun went down but that didnt happen. Maybe next time.

Totals:

1 pygmy rattlesnake (DOR)

1 massasauga (DOR)

1 diamondback rattlesnake

1 yellow bellied racer (DOR)

5 black rats (3 DOR)

1 great plains rat

1 speckled king

2 collard lizards

1 race runner (DOR)

1 unidentified trurle
