Lizards in Florida

Having lived here all my life, I have been able to observe the Anoles that are here quite closely. They really aren't native to Florida, they have moved in from the Caribbean area. But for such a small animal their intelligence amazes me. One thing I have noticed, they are terrified of snakes. They immediately run up a wall or tree to escape them. So, whenever I decide to work in an area near the house, I always check to see if any are high up on the wall. If that's the case, I always look around and invariably there is a snake nearby. Also, I've noticed that if a Mockingbird or a Bluejay fly into the area, they will run and hide immediately, however, if a dove comes near they don't bother to budge. Now, how does a small-brained thing like that know that doves don't eat them?? I bet there are a lot of humans that don't know that.
