This one was found in my own yard last week, it's the same kind

These are both Brown Snakes (Storeria dekayi). They are very common garden residents over much of the eastern half of the US. I just found one in my yard last night while mowing here in San Antonio, TX.

They are completely harmless slug/worm eaters. They only get around 12 inches long or so and are smaller around than a pencil even as big adults.

And actually, it doesn't look anything like a Copperhead other than being brownish. In my experience, over much of their range people don't seem to know what copperheads really look like. I used to live in east Texas (Houston) and every snake someone pointed out to me was pronounced to be a Copperhead. I lived and actively searched for snakes in the west side of Houston for 5 years before I actually saw a real copperhead there. And when I showed it to a long time resident of the area, they didn't have any idea what it was. When I told them that was what a real copperhead looked like, they were quite surprised.

Second what FHFchrish said; these are Brown Snakes, probably adults, since this species remains small. They look nothing at all like a Copperhead. Here is a baby Copperhead I captured recently for comparison; please take note of the marking pattern, which resembles Hershey's Kisses if seen from the side. He did have the bright yellow tail, although he was sitting on it when I took this picture, and even as a baby he was already as thick as my thumb, with that distinct equilateral triangular head.
