New Yard Critters 8

Today's walkabout reveals some new yard critters. I should have had my video mode ready when I watched a yellow Swallowtail smack into a huge Black and Yellow Argiope web and struggle for about 60 seconds, fighting the spider off, before it was able to escape. I was so glad it got away.

I am glad the Butterfly escaped....

I helped a Monarch get free from an Argiope web yesterday (her web is a bit high for my taste)...interestingly enough, the spider wasn't paying any interest in the B-fly....guess they prefer the grasshoppers which is just fine with me :0)

I may have to move her if it happens again...

Critter Dug up a 8' growing Dahlia and Tuber?

Morning, Haven't been back for awhile. Dahlia plant is slowly doing better and now getting taller but it is quite a bit behind the other dahlias in the bed. I don't know what critter dug it up but could be rabbit, chippey or deer. Usually the deer leave all the dahlia's alone. I'll have to check which dahlia it was. Will go out and do that now. It's "Micks Peppermint" SC RW A. One that I ordered new for this year. It is so far behind the other dahlias growing in the dahlia bed. Oh, well, will wait and see how it grows.. Thanks for all your help DB and Poochella.. Later, Sue

These guys are a plague and a menace. They've dug booby trap all over my yard. We had to trap one, coz he was living under our house and tearing up our AC ducts under there. Now another one has moved in. Hopefully, this one will quickly move on to grubbier pastures. They're awfully cute when they're somewhere else, though. 8-] ICA, Sophie ^i^
