I saw some like that in a "Birds and Blooms" magazine, and I'm still trying to figure out how they are made. The bottom of the vessel must be removed, if you fill the feeder from the top, right? I wonder if they involve welding, or if they are glued together, perhaps with JB Weld. I'd like to make something similar for my Mom, who loves to feed the birds in her yard.

my sister does just about the same thing at her place. she got four green metal fence posts and and some green enamel painted fence and made a square under the tree where she hangs her feeders. the little birds can fly thru the fenceing and the bigger birds enter from the top the cats try once in awhile to climb over but the birds are long gone before they get in. She has a step lader she can stand on the reach the feeders to fill them. before that she almost gave up feeding her birds cause the cats would lay under shrubs close by and pounce on the birds.
