I had a 9' pond in a very urban setting. Nearest creek was a half mile away, multiple streets, commercial area and a busy railroad in between. Yet frogs found me! They didn't mind the waterfall or the fish. If you have enough plants in the pond for cover, and provide a way to get out of the pond when they want to, they'll love it. How long have you had your pond? If you've had it through one spring/summer, I'm surprised you don't have any by now.

I am wondering if Mondo Grass is toxic if ingested. I am interested in possibly using it in a terrarium with a salamander or frog, and, while they shouldn't be eating it, I want to be on the safe side if I use it. Thanks, -Jmcat

And if there is only one sex for a species...why do we call it the female? Shouldn't it really be "neither male nor female"? "There are some reptiles, such as the boa constrictor and komodo dragon that can reproduce sexually and asexually, depending if a mate is available." This is an exaggeration of the truth. There have been a total of two extraordinary circumstances under which a komodo dragon and a boa constrictor somehow reproduced parthenogenetically. They don't do it normally just because a mate isn't available. "Similar thing can be stated about humans too.Its little bit shocking but true.(ref.- MAN IS THE EXTENSION OF WOMAN)" This statement is ridiculous and unfounded in fact. Male humans are no more an extension of females than females were derived from some mysterious "extra rib" in the first human (oh...and what about Lilit?). Males and females are two different evolutionary strategies in humans (and other species) and are equally codependent for the survival of the species. Men can't pass their genes on without women, and women can't pass their genes on without men. From an evolutionary point of view, it is fair to say we are both useless without each other. And this has nothing to do with identifiying reptiles and amphibians in the garden, but I was bored and hate seeing stupid statements go unchallenged.

I think she was being a little sarcastic, amy. scarlett, You've have quite a few posts on this forum almost on the same sort of thing. I remember the Christmas light thing where your husband plugged the lights into the wall still in the box so you served him raw food. You acted like it was funny, but it still sounds to me more like it's a little passive aggressive on both your parts. I'm not really sure what the answer is, but someone has to at least try to break the adversarial relationship. I would suggest you start. I would suggest you seriously try to treat him like he's someone else that you respond gentler too.. act like he's your child, your boss, your best friend. When he acts stupid about e-mail, just say "Oh, I guess I could see how you thought that" (Even if you can't see how he could be so dumb, just try to be overly nice) not "What, were you born on Mars, why would you think that?". It sounds like you are in a very challenging competitive reltionship which can be exciting in ways, but if you are always trying to compete and out do one another, or always have to be the right or smarter one and often respond sarcastically, etc... after a while no one is happy. Try "kindness" instead of trying to be right or knocking your husband down to size whenever you can. Kindness can work wonders. If it doesn't help, and it's very constant and abusive, and you really don't think you are contributing to his negativity towards you, I wouldn't totally rule out your husband possibly having a mood or personality disorder.
