I've been hosting an open mike in Joliet, so I head down to Kankakee before the show starts. Tonight I got down there about 4:30 with the intent or returning to the spot I found the Milk Snake last week. But alas, on the way there I was sidetracked. First I hit the field behind the gas station and found about 20 Plains Garters and two literally pink Brown Snakes.

Then I headed to the sand prairie.I passed a tin spot I have checked out before and found it had recently been ravaged by a herper, nothing out of place or not put back, just obvious someone was recently there.

It seemed as though with every step I would take, I would see more debree further ahead to check out. Finally way at the back of the field I found a nice 4 foot Bullsnake curled up under a board. Shortly after that I found a juvy Blue Racer , first of the year for me.

I saw some nice rolling hills across the field I was alongside and decided to investigate. Upon coming over the hill I was blessed with a herpers dream! nestled way back from the road, along a hilly ridge there was a fence lined with tin that went on for literally 2-3 blocks on both sides of the abandoned property, and all the tin was on the ground. In addition to that, there was junk EVERYWHERE. So I got to flipping. It was very obvious this spot hadn't been flipped recently or possibly EVER. I got all the way to the back of the property and probably 150 sheets of tin without finding anything. Then on the way back around on the other side I found another 4 1/2 foot Bullsnake. Shortly after taht another smaller Bull.

Up along the next hill I flipped a really pretty pink hued Slender Glass Lizard which was actually not too squirmy. Shortly after that a pretty male Prairie Racerunner. Checked my phone, it was only 6:45. Poked around a bit more, then finally went to check my Milk spot, found a couple more Racerunners. Didn't find anything else but it was a pretty productive few hours.
