5 Red Milks Today!

Went to a glade today only a few miles down the road. We have checked this glade well over a dozen times the last few years. Only good finds were an adult coachwhip a couple years ago and about two speckled kingsnakes a year. Also the usual ring-necks and earth snakes. Never a milk snake until today.

The weather was in the lower 30's last night and only 56 degrees today with sun. We had a good rain a couple days ago so I think that had a lot to do with our good luck today. Really thought it would be too cold today for herping so didn't plan anything else. We were there for only about one hour.

Totals

5 red milks, 4 juveniles and a 20 inch adult

2 ringnecks

2 rough earth snakes

2 efts, our first of the year

First outing when red milks out numbered all other snakes!
