My pond is on the edge of my woodlands. I have a lot of birds here. They come to bathe in the 30 ft. stream that flows down the hill into the pond. (My favorites are the cardinals and the gold finches) And I have 2 frogs that jump in as soon as I approach the pond. I'll look up mayflies online - even though they're small - they're too big to be gnats. Why do I want to get rid of them? They're annoying and occasionally I get bit.

Sit the pot in a tray with about an inch of that water in it. I use 50/50 mix of peat moss and perlite. NOT Miracle grow Perlite, they put fertilizer in their stuff (Witch I HATE). Do you have a photo of the whole plant you could post? Is the plant OUTSIDE?

What kind of peaches are they? I think most peaches should be harvested between July and August. Maybe they were left on the tree too long? I'm adding a link to a fruit tree grower. Several years ago when we lived in Baltimore, we had yellow jackets invade our roof space. It was a 3 story townhouse so getting up to that level from the outside took a seriously tall ladder. We had a hard time finding a pest company to spray and it took them a couple tries before they successfully got rid of them. They estimated there were thousands and thousands of them up there. It got so bad that I could constantly hear them making that crunching, munching noise - crinkle up a regular piece of printer paper and you'll know exactly what it sounded like. Now imagine trying to sleep with that going on! I was terrified that they would come through the ceiling and I would suddenly be surrounded by swarms of the little things. It was not fun.
