I.D. California Bird?

19 years ago

Hi;

I need some help with the identification of a Calif. wild bird

that has come to our feeder. I can't find it in my Birds of California field guide.

It looks to be about 7-8" or close to the same size as our

Black-Headed Grosbeaks. The whole body color is gray-brown like that of a Mourning Dove. There is a very light pink-orange spot just under the chin, and there are three or four circular black spots on the chest. The bird has a very long squared off tail, with a bit of pink-orange coloring on top of the rump.

I hope I gave a clear enough description of this bird

so that someone can identify it for me.

Thank you and hoping to hear.
