Hello all. My mother just sent me these two pics of a snake she found at her house. Could anyone id it for me, please?

Oh, and she lives in North East Texas (about 45 mins west of Texarkana).

From the head shape, it is NOT a rattlesnake.

that means it's a beneficial snake that will eat mice and voles and other pests.

After doing some research online I 'think' it could be a baby Gray Rat snake. The makings look similar and (although not in the pictures) I specifically recall it having a 'white' colored belly. Thoughts? Here is a link that might be useful: Rat snake?

Yes, it is a Florida Pinesnake (Pituophis melanoleucus mugitus). Not a common sight.

I could be wrong, but it looks like some kind of rat snake.

It is a Rat Snake. Nonvenomous and harmless.
