I should have known... this one posed just outside of my dining room window, on the porch rail, last summer.

Cut the leaf off. It cannot be saved so I'd cut it off ASAP. I had the giant white BOP years ago and got tired of dragging it indoors and outside for summer. Much too big for a houseplant IMHO. After a few years I finally let it outside one winter to let Jack Frost take it to the great compost heap in the sky. The regular BOP (Strelitzia reginae) is a lot smaller and may bloom for her. Still a good sized houseplant though.

Birds Nest Spruce - new growth going brown

Planted some birds nest spruce about 3 weeks ago and have been keeping it well watered. Daily for 2 weeks now every 2nd. Fed it and had some really good initial growth. Now mich of the tips of the new growth are going brown. No excessive heat, no drought. Maybe overwatered? Maybe normal? no mites. Ideas?

Hehehe! I have seen those birds in our yard. Since they are loud, maybe those are the ones that sometimes wake me up in the morning, even though the windows are closed. I literally lift my head some mornings and say, "Shut up!"

Doesn't work though.
