anya-- What I do is I've got a free account over at photobucket.com . With every pic you upload over there, you get what's called a tag line. You copy and paste that tag line into the text of your message, and when you post it, the picture appears. Clean and simple, for the "HTML challenged" of us!! :-)

Great responses. Ohiomom... I remember when green and purple ketchup came out. We got the green version. I must have been 17 and I tried it on some scrambled eggs. It was TERRIBLE, even though I'm sure it had the exactly the same ingredients as the red stuff. I agree that presentation/appearance IS very important to the interpretation of taste. I think that it looks like something the dog ate and then reproduced. Sue, you must have the same cheese product. It isn't terrible. The best part of the meal was the tortilla chips (I want to go out and get some cheddar dip to finish them up, I never allow myself to buy chips at the grocery market so when someone else brings them it's a special treat). He apparently has a few vintage appliances (hair drier, coffee percolator, and alarm clock )so I was having fun showing off the vacuums... I thought the waffle iron would be a nice touch. I was wrong. Pancakes would have been much easier. I hate cleaning the waffle iron yet and wanted to put the entire thing in the dishwasher. If they would put removable platens on the the waffle irons and George Foreman grills (HATE, sorry, strongly disllike that thing!) it would be great. We did laugh a lot, and the waffles somehow got made and eaten AND enjoyed. Thanks for the advice, Woodie... where were ya last week? Too late now! Maryanne, I have heard of holding out. People actually do it? I'm brave enough to venture outside of my social shell maybe once every three or so months to meet a new guy and see what happens... I tend to make it "all or nothing" when I do. Usually all, unless their teeth are crooked. Thanks for appreciating my humor :o) I didn't even think of making a game out of it and having people guess! If no one played along I'd have been offended!

Hi prairiemoon2, yes these are seedlings. I did the crosses, marked them, collected the seeds and then grew them out over the Winter. There are many hybridizers doing wonderful things. Check out the Face Book hosta hybridizing groups to see people that are better at it than me. I did it for close to ten years but now am so short on space in my garden that I’m done (truth is my wife cut me off ;) :) ) Now I’m focused on an all seedling garden, saving the best seedlings from my years of effort. Its been a fun journey and it makes my garden extra special to me that all the hostas in my garden are ones I’ve grown from seed from crosses that I have done.

The secret to summer weather in Kentucky and Tennessee is altitude. The lower parts of these states can be humid and oppressively hot in July and August. However, go up in altitude and you may get night time cooling and that can make the climate bearable. The higher elevations are at the eastern part of these two states where the terrain rises to meet the mountains. The winter on the west side of Appalachia is more harsh than the eastern side and that has an effect on rhododendron. There are two distinct species of rhododendron that grow in these mountains. The western side has the species that is more winter hardy. There is a lowland section of Kentucky that is river bottoms on the south side of the Ohio river and south of Illinois and Indiana. This bottom land is extensive, maybe ten miles wide and the summer is hot and humid there. It floods often. There is a bridge crossing the Ohio R. at Henderson. The highway crosses this bridge and continues south across the bottom flats. There are tall stakes with depth markings placed periodically along the side of this road. These stakes are there to show boatmen where the road is located. The area around Bowling Green, KY and Mammoth Cave is karst landscape and has underground streams. The Corvette Museum was destroyed not long ago when a sinkhole opened under the showroom floor and swallowed the entire collection of Corvettes on that floor! I believe the collection has been largely restored. Outside interests came forward to help. The main competitive sport in Kentucky is basketball. A major crop is tobacco.
