Warning to game camera buyers..BUY INFRA-RED FLASH ONLY! It's clear that animals are avoiding the annoying flash-which always scares me when I hike up there at night-and doubtless explains why there are few repeat animal photos. I can see by their tracks that they are skirting the camera, including the Big Foot. When I took photos yesterday afternoon, the ice was just melting slightly in sunny spots, and there was no new jaguar sign. I thought he'd moved on, but this morning there were several new, now frozen, scrape marks right where I'd been photographing yesterday, meaning that the jaguar had visited and scrape-marked his territory right after I left, before the temperatures dropped again. I could see that he was giving me a warning, so I circled the pond to where he'd previously left his scat, sniffing the air to see if he'd scent-marked anywhere close, like the jaguar websites said they did. Another website claimed that Amazon Indians are frequently followed by male jaguars to escort them off their territories. Still other websites said that jaguars seldom bother to mark territories unless there is a boundary dispute or overlapping territories. Perhaps our constant poking around "his" territory is prompting the alleged jaguar to warn us off. The meerkats in Meerkat Manor are always "furiously scent-marking" bushes and rocks to "see-off" trespassers, so he could be warning us to back off. If he is imprinted on humans from being in captivity as a cub, he might see us as rivals, but maybe all jaguars view humans that way. Of course, I was here first. Websites also say that about their second year, male jaguars move on to establish their own territories, which can be up to 500 square miles, depending on food availability, so he might be moving on soon.

I kept hearing the male Yellow-throated Warbler singing out by the creek yesterday. It was warm and sunny, so I packed my backpack and started out the door with my camera, but no sooner did I step off the porch the sun disappeared. I then started up the mnt, but by the time I reached the first corner, a terrific electrical storm hit and I had to run back down the steep trail, covering my camera. It rained all night, too Sheesh! Hi raehelen, I didn't get an email but it might be me. Does it come to my email linked to this account? or does gardenweb have a member email section? The kitchen design company does not have a website. :( The counter they have is more gray, not really blue. It might have a teeny hint of blue. The gray was more like a sidewalk gray. It had lots of gold a little black with big gray swirls. Tomorrow I am going to the granite yard again. I will pay closer attention to the Jaguar they have this week and possibly get some true to color pictures to post. I am hoping to have mine picked out by tomorrow afternoon. :) Crystal

Your lawyer should be handling this for you. Then you don't have to spend 'hours on the phone'. You let your lawyer do that. You don't even look at medical bills, you forward them right to your lawyer. First off, if your jurisdiction is like mine, you've probably got two years to settle this--DON"T BE IN A RUSH. Your husband may yet discover he has longterm damage that needs to be addressed. Once the claim is settled,it's really difficult, if not impossible, to reopen it. When my dd was rear-ended, she was immediately okay (but thoroughly checked over at the hospital). She eventually was diagnosed with a degenerative spine injury caused by the impact. We turned the case over to our lawyer within hours of it happening. Our lawyer took care of all the negociations--all the paperwork, handled getting DD a rental car, a very quick check for the value of her totalled car--getting us MORE than book value for it. Her medicals were another thing. She was paid for all her medical bills (and they ran up to a pretty extensive amount) and about $50,000 for future medicals and pain and suffering. Please, it's late to be getting him in on this but don't try to do this on your own. Not only is your lawyer more experienced with negociating settlements, what's generally allowed in this sort of case in your area, but you MUST have representation when you go to the depositions you'll probably have to give.
