LOL>..Cute little cusses..I hate to mow the yard...I see little toads hopping all over the place when I do..the other night I had a toad in the laundry room..I finally grabbed him up and took him outside...I don't know how he got in the basement...unless he got out of the aquarium..I took some tadpoles out of my pond and brought them inside..I released 5 of them..maybe one escaped before I got him out LOL..Me and the wife watched him for 3 weeks or so...the other night while downing some cold ones me and the toad had a heart to heart...or should I say I talked myself into letting him outside...cuz I know that's his best chance for survival..he was doing ok though...those camel back crickets multiply like crazy in my laundry room LOL....woohoo for the toads! Ouch, July and August are harsh times to visit Phoenix and San Diego. Bet you were miserable. I dearly love both cities but after living in Oregon for so long I must visit in cooler months. If the fish is missing with no disturbance of plants and no scales or bones laying around it was likely a bird. Heron or kingfisher. Raccoons make a mess like a tornado and cats aren't very likely to actually catch a fish and if they do they often just play with it rather than eat it so you find evidence. Birds scoop them up and swallow them whole. Hope the Scarecrow does the trick for you. Easier to transplant tadpoles in spring than adult frogs to have them stick around anyway. Adults tend to leave.

They are just there to have their meals. It will be irritating but they don't do any harm to you. I used to do the same, spray chemicals or bug sprays, but one day my daughter thought me something which I forgotten long back. She is studying in Sunnybrook School in Ontario, and they had a class one day about the frogs, tree frogs etc. That day she made me realize that these frogs and toads are important for proper bio balance. Stop hurting them and try simple steps like those mentioned by Walker.

Oh, how gorgeous! They remind me of the day we were driving in Canada and a bald eagle flew alongside our car for several seconds. A thrill I'll never forget.
