Is the variegated plant a part of the green plant? The white parts of a variegated plant can photosynthesis, but not as well as the green parts. If this white variegated plant grew from the green plant it can still get energy from the mother plant. Yeah, my guess was along those lines too. Figured it would be entertaining at least. I have it rooting, I guess we'll see if it greens up or not. I've heard of people trying to root inflorescences, if it doesn't turn green or die, I might try that. I have a other plumerias it might be able to leach off of for nutrients.

Oyster, Great news. Could you include some pictures from his plant. I know the older they get and larger increase their survival. Mine started to have a faint green cast to it and a very thin green edge to one newer leaf but was too small and when the leaf it was growing off of died, so did it. Jeff, the bigger the plant, the stronger they are. They are considered indestructible due to the fact that if you forget about them (neglect) they continue to thrive. When we love them too much like over watering and over fertilize they die. Still working on mixes. All plants need air around their roots. We use grit to increase the air and aid to remove excess water. Plants grown in the ground mostly have a clay base and little air, so what gives? I think that's why my Bantal's Sensation grew the best one year in wet soggy soil filled with tinny black ants. They had tunnels every where in the soil.

As per what Silica said, an albino plant is essentially without a "stomach" in that it arguably can't produce sugars through photosynthesis? If that's the case, then maybe you could propagate it via grafting as per Ken's comment, only, I think you would have to graft the albino into a green plant that has enough leaves so the green part of the plant can support the albino part of the plant.
