Mary, I really like that because it is sturdier than the platform feeders that use screening, which often gets nasty and holes from much use. You could clean that in the dishwasher after a good hand wash. I have some small animal cage lids around. What did you use and how did you hook the chain to the lid? Regarding copyright - put a copyright note with your name and date on every photo. That should cause some pause. If I read their policy correctly they are not claiming the right to own your photos, but the right to use your copyrighted materials. From an owner's standpoint that most likely makes no difference, since many of us might want a company to seek permission before use. They won't have to, but at least if you put a copyright mark on your photo you will get credit as it being your photo if they do decide to use it. I am seriously contemplating leaving GW completely because I don't want my emails to get on mailing lists and I don't like the fact that when I log on with my name and password it redirects my information to an unsecure site. iV is also associated with way too many affiliate sites for my liking. Sometimes there comes a point where I am not comfortable using a site that could prove to be a huge annoyance later, when I weigh it against how much I use the site now, which is very little. Also, on the bird forum I found an opt-out link for the site where you can supposedly instruct iV to not sell or give away your email addresses, but we all know how that goes. Sometimes just the act of opting out of something puts your email on the expensive (more valuable) list, as it is a comfirmation that there really is a person behind the email. Most internet security instructions say to igmore opt-outs, but since this opt-out is directly affilated and put out by iV maybe it is safer, but then again maybe not. They ARE mass marketers and information about our usage on the site is their main business. They will track us: what we read, how many times we visit, what we post, and what we buy. Data mining. Do you have any idea if it is being produced as a Region Free DVD (can be played anywhere in the world) or if it will be a Region 1 DVD (can only be played in the US, Canada, Bermuda, and US territories)? If it is not too late, I think it might be worth considering. I ask on behalf of rose fans outside of the United States. Region coding was set up to allow restriction of movie distribution, but that might not be a good thing here. In this case I would expect that rosarians from other parts of the world might find the video to be of interest. I ask because I once bought a DVD of a historic site in England to share with an interested family member back home. However when I got back I discovered that American DVD players would not play it. Mike - I just saw your hummingbird pictures! OH... MY... GOD!!! That is without a doubt one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my entire life. Can you imagine?!?! Thanks so much for sharing!!! Mornings in Camelot sound breathtaking! My property is nowhere near as amazing as yours (...yet Haha - maybe one day). We bought our house in 2002. It's just over 1/4 acre, but I'm not restricted by a "community association" or anything like that. I'm lucky to have a cemetery behind my house - which not only has the benefit of not having to worry about development, but they also allow ACRES of their property to "go wild" every year. That means more critters! That combined with the giant trellis they've donated to me for my clibmers (ie. the 6' chain link fence that borders the entire cemetery hahaha) I feel pretty lucky. :) So far I've made 3 songbird/butterfly/hummingbird gardens varying in size (with a 4th in progress), and my back porch is bordered with containers and hanging baskets full of "useful" plants. My little gardens get a decent amount of activity (obviously - or I'm sure I would have lost interest long ago Hahaha). I still have LOTS of space to be converted to gardens and I'm having so much fun with all of it! :) My "for now" goal is to have at least one whole side of my property bordered by plants for my little flying friends - and then add more gardens of course once that's done! Can one really ever have too many? ;) I'd love to eventually add a small wildlife pond too (I adore frogs and dragonflies) - but I'm just projecting now. :p Lisa

I think the OP means disks, not hardware. First, make sure they do not contain any private data, and you have to err on the side of caution. If they do, and you have a shredder that does disks, shred them. If not you might offer them on Freecycle or Craigslist (perhaps in the garden section?) - Some gardeners string them up to scare off birds. They make good coasters. They can also be used for crafts, see if a local school wants them. I've seen really nice 'flowers' made with a cd as a base, with squashed/curled tea light aluminium bases used as leaves/petals.
