Hi Konrad, I don't know. It's looks a little too bulky and dark colored to be a Clay-colored Sparrow. Usually, the Clay-colored Sparrow looks a little like a Chipping Sparrow. And, I think I saw some streaks near the base of the tail. But, I may be wrong. With only one picture there're always possibilities of mistakes. Wish is a Clay-colored, Luc

Thanks! I see adult Song Sparrows often, mostly in the winter, but I'd never seen a fledgling until the other day when I saw the adult feeding the baby. Usually in the summer the sparrows stay out of sight. I hope that little thing gets more wary before a hawk sees it. Claire

I did have a Chipper nest of 3 Chippers and one Cowbird.....didn't notice till it was too late. All 4 babies fledged. I did notice that more Chippers than just the 2 parents were feeding these babies. Quite a few in fact. SO (not that I like these birds) but it does not necessarily mean all the other nestlings died.

I will answer my own question. I believe it is a Harris Sparrow. I've never noticed them before. Nice looking sparrows indeed.
