happy thanksgiving!

I am home recovering from my hip replacement, and I wanted to be sure to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to all of you on the Bird Watching Forum.

I am thankful for this forum, for becoming involved, to whatever small degree, in backyard bird watching, and for the many folks here who are so gracious in sharing their knowledge,experience, and beautiful photos.

Birdwatching has opened up a whole new world for me, and I can't wait to get out there and work some more on our habitat. Until then I will enjoy the feeders and make plans.

i went through my hip replacement last winter. I was on a walker for two weeks but healed fast after that. Part of my recovery was the doctor wanted me to walk a mile everyday. so i did it 1/3 mile 3 times a day. Took my binoculers and slowly walked thu an area that has lots of birds, took my time and checked out the trees and shrubs and spotted birds i would not have seen otherwise.

Happy Festival of Food! Gotta love any excuse for pie.

It's a blustery day, hopefully it will blow over by tomorrow when I plan to get out and do some birding.

Yes- hope you all enjoyed! When I was working, I dealt a lot with our Canadian office so I was very aware of holidays. Now that I'm retired, I honestly didn't remember ( I didn't even realize today was a holiday of sorts here). I actually had emailed someone I worked with (she 's Canadian) with whom I keep in touch just to catch up. She wrote back and only THEN did I realize what yesterday was. Oops. I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday. I love my traditional turkey dinner. Old-fashioned bread stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh cranberry-orange sauce, pumpkin and pecan pies. i know some folks like to try new recipes, but for me, once a year, i like the old ones. I must confess that I did almost succumb to Ina Garten’s chocolate bourbon pecan pie recipe though. I will have to try that sometime. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! That morning we went birding at the fish hatchery..how else does one celebrate anything?
I brought a fruit/sprout/soybean shake with me..my meal of the day at my age!
