Winter Finch Forecast 2013-2014

Every year Ron Pittaway of Ontario, Canada, puts out the Winter Finch Forecast 2013-2014 which tells us here in the States whether we can expect to see various interesting finches moving south this winter, such as siskins and grosbeaks and crossbills and redpolls and other birds we don't usually see.

It sounds like there won't be major irruption this year - the trees are producing cones and seeds in good amounts in Canada so the birds will probably stay there.

Claire (speaking in disappointment from the viewpoint of an American in southeast Massachusetts, those of you in Canada or up near the border may be happy to keep the birds up there)
