I sure do love em mxyplx, but I would move the mantis to another location WAY far from my Hummer feeders. He will eventually catch a Hummer and then eat it for lunch. They are super cool insects, but you don't want em eating your Hummers. :o)

It's definitely on offense, and they can take hummers as prey items. Best to relocate the insect unless you want to set up a rather gruesome 'wild kingdom' moment. It may seem unlikely, but a quick google search will prove otherwise.

Used gloves and reloacated that vicious bast - uh - bug to the veggy garden. :)

No worries mxyplx! It's one of those, "and now ya know" types of things! I actually think that it's pretty impressive that they are able to catch and eat a Hummingbird. That being said, I don't want to encourage or enable them to do so at my Hummer feeders. :o) They tend to hang out in my lantana or butterfly bushes here. I often see them eating Bumblebees, but they will take the butterflies too.
