Hi Amy... You have to look at the long range...How is it going to do in the long months of winter in a mix that harbors gnats? Usually gnats is a tell tale sign that your mix is too organic, and holds moisture far too long... If it were my tree, I would gently repot it into a far superior mix than what it is in now to prepare for your tree for the winter months and now shorter and cooler days. I would remix that mix with 50% perlite or more until you can fully understand how to make a good mix from scratch in spring, or buy one that consists mostly of pine bark, a little perlite, with a very small amount of peat... Make sure to have the basic tools you will need to carry her threw at the ready... A wooden dowel, or your finger if you are good with that, a nice sunny spot, learn how to water and when, a good pesticide, and keep reading........... No one can say for sure if your tree will suffer if you repot again, but I would tend to believe not:-) I wish you much success! MIke

Thanks, Rick and Joyce. I need to take another picture because the color just keeps getting better. The sunny side of the tree is a dark red while the shaded side and the interior of the tree is yellow and orange tones. Unbelievable. Mike

I am originally from Northeast Louisiana - Monroe/Shreveport area and I grew lots of David Austin roses there. They do become giants, but hey, if you have the room, not a problem.

Welcome Sherrie--I started posting here a few weeks ago and I have found quite a few great people already. I have just returned to knitting after about a 30 year break. I made a simple hat to see if my fingers rembered how to knit and today I bought the yarn to make a cardigan sweater. I am using inexpensive yarn because this will be a test to see how well the sweater fits me. Thirty years ago I needed a lot less yarn to make myself a sweater :-( Anyway, if this sweater comes out nicely I will then buy some very expensive yarn I have fallen in love with and make something really nice. Good luck with your kniting. I have never learned to crochet properly and this Friday I am going for a crochet lesson. I am newly retired and have time and patience on my side. Nancy
