Turnabout

We put up a spiral corncob holder for the squirrels, sort of an apology for putting the squirrel baffle on the bird feeder. As the squirrel eats the kernels off the cob, the cob slips lower into the spiral. Yesterday I saw a Carolina wren all the way down in the feeder, head first, eating from the cob. Of course, she was probably eating bugs rather than kernels but it was fun to think of birds stealing squirrel food!

Later I saw the wren reaming out a mud daubers' nest like you might suck the meat out of a crayfish.
