They did have one, finally, really late last year. I was stalking some Agastaches, and I just kept checking back to see if they would. I don't remember exactly when it was, but I do remember it was later than everyone else. The discount was not too steep, but I love the Agastaches! All are doing great. One even grew and bloomed after I put it in, into the fall.

They had great plants I had not seen elsewhere. And an order over 100 got free shipping. It priced out to about 5.75 a plant, which is what used to be charged for the small pots. Alas, smaller pots are much less available. Someone told me the growers and retailers are going for bigger pots because the plants are easier to keep alive for the retailer and gardener. I got some interesting plants I've been reading about. Fragrant currant, which supposedly has a heavenly clove scent; a lower sumac but different than low-grow; e. ARt's Pride, some unusual shade loving woodland lilies; and two honeysuckles I've never seen for sale in a nursery.But then I don't get to half as many nurseries as some people I know. I do not hold this against hcg, but getting an order through the website was impossible.Literally, I tried 4 times and it rejected a part of the payment information. My first attempt to order on the telephone was very annoying. The prices were not coming up as sale prices and there was nothing the poor 'order taker' could do. Then she told me there was a problem because it was being shipped to zone 6. Finally customer service put the order through in the daytime. Then, someone reported me at work for doing personal business and I got talked to by my supervisor. I was being bad, I know, but how I hate tattletales in the workplace!I would never report someone about that unless it became chronic and was abusing trust. But I'm not letting that spoil my anticipation of the order. Or thinking about what the plants will look like in a year. Marie

I live near Denver and have purchased nearly all of my roses from them. I saw an ad in the Rocky Mountain News 3 or 4 years ago for an Old Garden Rose sale sponsored by a Boy Scout Troup in Denver. I went there with my mom and a buddy and bought a Variegata Di Bologna (sorry if my spelling is off) and a Louise Odier. I was hooked! I didn't know much about old roses. I've been back to that sale every year since, collecting treasures. I was organizing my plant tags this summer and realized all my OGR's came from the same place - HCR's. So I visited their website and found the sale. I ordered my last 3, 2 Ausmary's and a Mountain Mignonette on 9/13, they shipped on the 14th and were at my door on the 16th, in great shape! I planted them the 19th, we had a light frost last week, so I put pots over them one night. We have our first hard freeze warning for tonight so I went to put the pots over them again. One of the Ausmary's has grown so much in the last week that the pot I used last week is too short! I didn't realize it had grown that much. I know there are a lot of great rose vendors on the east coast. I highly recommend HCR for those of you in the western states. Too bad my planting season is done!

Great tip! Just a heads up on La Ville de Bruxelles. High Country's La Ville looks like the false La Ville that Heirloom has sold for years. So, if any one wants the real deal, elsewhere might be a good place to look. High Country carries a lot of wonderful species roses as well as OGRs and hardy moderns. Carol
