Need a new Rain Slicker

Well, my old river wading jacket has about had it. This is a "shorty" jacket that I usually wear while fishing a river or stream - goes over the top of the waders so the rain runs off the jacket and onto the waders. The jacket is short so that when your wading in waist high water it's not so likely to have the bottom of it in the water. However, I've given-up on going into water that high anymore and try not to venture out more than knee deep, so being that short is not quite as important. Checking out the replacement of the old wading jacket cannot believe the pricing ... it's more than doubled in less than 10 years! I see Wal-Mart has a rain jacket w/hood in their sporting department (Stearns) that sells for $29.95; looks like the same poly coated nylon a lot of tents are made of. Sometimes I think one of those $9.95 jobbers I see at Lowe's bldg supply would work if they came in any other color but yellow!

Anyway, wondered if anyone here has an insight into a good rain jacket (with hood) at a decent price - one that if you left it behind some place would'nt spell financial disaster! TIA

Dale
