On Finding Nests...

One of the posts I just read jogged my memory to ask you folks, who are much more experienced than I am, how you go about looking for nests? It seems like people here are always monitoring nests and know what babies are doing, when they are ready to leave, etc. I am so envious! I have been searching my yard and found not a single nest, even an empty one.

We have three nestboxes up but I put them up rather late, so I didn't expect much there.

Maybe I don't know how to look, and what to search for. We certainly have had plenty of young birds this summer: chickadees, finches, cowbirds, cardinals, titmice, robins...but no nests to be seen (by me).

I would love to find just one nest! If there is one out there. Any tips?
