I'm with you Dale. Besides my hubby and I work weekends so we're thinking maybe we'll go out Monday night and enjoy the peace and quiet w/o all the crowds. Even if it is for only one night, it still refreshes you. We've never been camping over a holiday and doubt we're missing anything we prefer to go through the week.

Our cousins live about 30 miles away, up in the country, and on the three summer holidays, we go there for a nice picnic. They have an outdoor fireplace--actually an old truck rim, and lawn chairs to sit on. Also a nice big picnic table, where we set out all kinds of good eats and desserts!
The men sit around and quaff a few brewskis, while the ladies get the food ready! Then after we eat, everybody sits around and talks about anything that comes to mind.
We're all a bunch of old-timers now, but most are enjoying fair to good health. Some of the other's off- spring manage to come to at least one outing during the summer, so we get to see how the kids have grown up and prospered!
I take the back roads to get there, to avoid the Holiday rush on the Inter-state hiway!
Oh, there's always something interesting to gab about, and we wile away the day doing just that!
We used to go on camping trips on the holidays, but everybody but me has given up on the camping thing! But, i'm probably going to have to sell my motor home, and go back to camping in the back of my truck! 10-11 mpg makes using the coach too expensive!
Any way, may all of you have a nice 4th. of July holiday!! If you drive anywhere, drive carefully, leave in plenty of time, don't take chances when swimming, hang yer clothes on a hickory limb, and don't go near the water!
That bit of advice was always given to me when i was a kid, by my mother! Its part of a saying that was popular when my folks were young kids!

Happy 4th, Dale! By the way, did those bug repellent wipes work out ok? How was your fishing trip?
I too avoided the 4th for any outdoor activity. I visited my Nephew and his family in Vegas. I swam in his pool, harassed his hounds (weener dawgs) ate his food, and left.
Just like bad relatives are supposed to do. poor guy....

Next week, I plan to get out to this place I've wanted to camp at called lone pine arch near the reservation in southern Utah. Can't wait. It's over 100 every day now.
But, I'm used to it. I love it!!
