I'd take your unwashed eggs that you have collected and store them in a cool, dry place, then wash them just before you use them while on your trip. This is because the hens' body naturally coats the egg with a protective cuticle called 'bloom' which seals out bacteria (that is why she can safely sit on them for 21 days without having them rot or explode. :) This is also how folks stored and used eggs in the days before refrigeration (eggs can last for at least a week when stored properly without refrigeration). What you want to avoid is the eggs getting warm and/or losing moisture through their pourous shells, as well as outside bacteria getting into the eggs. Also make sure you have good, sound eggs with no cracks or thin shells. The moisture in the frig might partially wash off the bloom, otherwise I'd say refrigerate them. You'll also need to store the eggs in a cool, dry place during the trip. Have fun! :) Velvet ~:>

Depends on what you call camping, and where you are. basic types to me: 1) RV camping, park in lot with other RV folks, generally drive to places, might day hike into a wilderness area, running water and power 2) car camping, big family size tent in campground 3) back packing, everything is carried by you, wherever you go 4) canoe or kayak camping, you portage your boat and gear on your back I am from the Upper Mid-West and I generally do items 3 and 4. On a recent camping trip, the RV a few spots down had a big screen TV mounted to the outside of his RV. The light pollution from it was incredibly annoying. I hear ya. I've been dismayed on more than one camping outing when, having selected the perfect campsite for our tents and setting up, along comes a ginormous "house on wheels" and parks right next door, generator cranking away all night long and destroying the peaceful vibe. Tent campers can be pretty opinionated and snobby when it comes to how RVers are viewed (and vice versa, I've discovered). My folks recently bought an Airstream and are loving it. Dad always loved tent camping, but now that he's older he does enjoy the creature comforts. My mom certainly wants to be comfortable and never enjoyed sleeping in a tent. I can understand why one might want a travel trailer, but I personally can't see the appeal of going anywhere in one of those RV buses that's absolutely huge. They look like they'd be nerve-wracking to drive, to say the least, and most of them I see are towing a car as well. I'd rather just stay in a very nice hotel, and no doubt come out money ahead. BUT - to each her own. There's really no "wrong way" to get out there and experience this country.
