I got my DED resistant elms from the "Elm Research Institute." They are on the web. Their elms are called "liberty" elms--they have several different cultivars/clones. I got three, hoping for one with a high arching vase form. Too ealy to tell, but after three years one of them looks like it will really, really "soar." The other looks good also. The third was killed by a plague of Japanese beetles that I was a little late recognizing as a threat that first year. --Spruce

Hi again. Country Gardens is amazing, too. Located near Ashippun, WI Take I-94 west to Hwy 16 N Drive to the end (runs into Oconomowoc), to the 2nd Hwy P exit (north). Go right on Hwy P to Hwy K. Take a left. Drive about 1\4-1\2 mile, take right on Mcmahon Rd. Drive for awhile(4 miles?), cross Hwy 67 (not labeled), cross Pennsylvania St. You should see a sign just past crossing. It is about 4 doors after Penn. St.on the left side. Large variety of perennials & grasses, absolutely beautiful plants. They have lovely display gardens, too. Near Decorah. IA, look for Willow Glen. Awesome!! Large variety of perennials--many hard to find, different types of willows for basket making. Beautiful garden layouts. ...and it is very close to the Seed Saver's place, just off the same road.

Sorry about the delay, I've been away for a couple of days. The MidWest Tomato Fest #5 will be held near the shelter house in Antelope Park in Lincoln, Nebraska. The entrance to Antelope Park near 29th and 'A' Street is where the shelter is located. We will begin at 1PM and will go until we all leave; usually we carry on for three or four hours. Since we are not in the shelter, bring chairs. We taste tomatoes and whatever other snacks show up. The park is kid friendly with lots to do if they don't llike tomato tasting and tomato talk. Coordinator Denise "piegirl", brings her famous lemon scones and others bring whatever they want. Most important, bring yourselves, with or without tomatoes or snacks. Sorry we missed you Mary. mama mia, thanks for the response. I'll contact Kessenichs and see what they have to say. I assume the price you got from them was satisfactory (stupid comment). We're remodeling and a new 30" door will be right next to where the range is to go. Probably don't want to move it over our existing composite floor. It seems the more you plan, the more you have to plan. Any advice on vent hoods. And I'm really in the dark regarding air return requirements and how that's done. Thanks much for your repsonse.
