req: recommend a paste tomato

User

Hi. I've grown Romas for years, but now that I will be moving (hopefully) into a larger-yard house for next spring I'm looking for some advice on a new paste tomato larger than the Romas I've been growing.

Location - Central NC (warm spring - hot/humid summer)

Desires:

1- a sweet paste tomato. not as important to me to have that "classic tomato" taste along with it.

2- productive. i have friends who have grown some really leafy and low-production tomatoes based on their natural genetics. i'll have more room, but i don't want to have to grow 10 plants to get the production of 5 well-developed Romas.

3- bigger than a roma, but not a giant heart/pear paste (the 1 lb'r types)

---

I've had people suggest opalka highly, but I don't have a clear understanding of how productive they are. I've read conflicting stuff about how they grow/fruit.

Anyway...Thanks a lot. I'm not as versed in tomatoes as I am with sweet peppers, but I'm ready to move on to another paste tomato.
