Anyone camping Easter Weekend?

Hey ya'll,

I thought I'd book a site at a campground we

like in Mississippi, now that we have a new

truck we don't mind going a litttle further.

Well needless to say, everything was booked.

So I called one of the LA State Parks across

the lake from the New Orleans area One that we

haven't been to and it was booked. I finally

found a couple of sites at St. Bernard State

Park. We go there alot. It's about 45min to

and hour from our home. Nice sites, play area

pool in the summer and lots of southern wild

life. Haven't seen any alligators but ya

never know. We'd like to go on longer trips

now and I thought ya'll might know of some

great spots between the New Orleans area and

Georgia. I looked on the internet and it looks

like the State Parks in Georgia are beautiful.

State parks are usually clean, safe, and

reasonably priced. I'd love some input from

ya'll. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've heard that Georgia state parks are very nice! I've never been to one myself!

I am camping over Easter break but it will be in Maryland!

Ya'll have a wonderful time. Hope the weather is nice.
It's been such a rainy 2005 for us. I'm hopeing for a
break in the rain and a nice sunny weekend. Take care.

Not that anyone cares (thump thump thump - is this thing on?!) but I just talked to one of the company's reps and she said it's not non-stick but rather powder-coated black. Which is bad enough (gross) but at least it just gets cooked to death then just kinda disappears over time as the whole thing gets blackened/seasoned over time. Or so I'm telling myself. Non-stick would be truly ridiculous...

Hey joanie. We have the Big Agnes insulated air mattresses. They are fantastic and very comfortable. They are the size of a qt bottle and are easy to blow up. They are very tough and as I said I have used mine almost every night in camping set ups for months and it has no leaks or problems. I will link below to the ones we have. I hadn't thought about the truck windows having screens to that would be great. A small fan would help to move the air. You would definitely need a canopy of some kind. We got one at Dick's Sporting Goods. It is easy to set up and very sturdy. Gives great protection if it is raining. We have even pulled it over so that it is 1/2 over our tent front and we can then get in and out without getting wet :) I haven't cooked on open fires for all meals. Just an occasional cookout. We have a 2 burner propane stove that I love. I can make pancakes and coffee and great dinners with it. We have a camp fire only for warmth and ambiance. We have a folding table and set everything up the minute we get to camp and then we are done for the time we are there. We have one cooler and restock often from the grocery. When I am on the road with my bike it is a whole different setup . I have a tiny campstove and we use a picnic table if there is one or the ground if there isn't :(. I have a one person tent that is very light. I still use my Big Anges though..it is never far from me ! If I can help with any other ideas let me know. Almost. The widow of a colleague from when we were in Korea together (50 years ago) gave me some of Walter's clothes last year, and a few months ago said that she had some more that were in their cottage - including a nice light blue suit, newly cleaned. I've worn it once or twice before - to comments on how good it looks on me. Trouble is ... I have to pull in the gut to get the pants to close ... and then would find it hard to run, which necessitates heavy breathing ... but there is a tad of good news: there's a bit of extra cloth at the seat-seam. Wore it to 8:00 a.m. "Sunrise" prayer service, then breakfast, then regular Easter service, including communion. Good wishes for an uplifting week ahead, everyone. ole joyful

Hi Brenda,

Georgia State Parks are nice. I'm most familar with the ones north and east, which may be longer than you want to go. If not, I like Black Rock Mountain in north Georgia, Steven J Foster at the Okeefenokee Swamp. Not a state park, but it's wonderful to camp on Cumberland Island. I'd also recommend the Florida State Parks along the Panhandle. I was at Grayton Beach State Park the weekend before Valentines Day. The Park was beautiful and the camp site I had was great. You can reserve them online. The area around the state park is pretty developed though. For something more isolated, I'd go to St. Joesph.

Thanks Nedra,
I'm so looking forward to traveling with our camper.
We have taken it to Florida before because our truck
could handle flat land better than hill and mountians.
But now that we have a new truck we're ready to venture
out a little further. I have visited the Atlanta area
of Georgia, and have been to Stone Mountain a few times
back in the 70's. I had a great time. We are from central
and south LA so we're thinking about north Georgia,
where we can see mountians and vista's you just dont'
get here. Don't get me wrong, you don't get better food, or
music than we have here but we'd like to see a little more of this great country of ours. Thanks for sharing.
