betrayed

In addition to being a bird watcher, I'm also a fruit grower and have a 5 acre "garden." While I'm used to sharing all my berries, grapes, and cherries with the birds, I did not expect to have all my peaches ravaged by red bellied woodpeckers. There was a flock of at least ten yesterday that destroyed over half my crop. That's after losing all my early peaches to brown rot and the rest of my crops to floods. I now fear they'll move on to my apples, plums, and pears. And to think I've fed those beasts for years now!!! I've had those trees for several years, and this is the first time they've ever bothered anything.
