Well, all you salt eaters--here's what happened to me:

Last week, my wife and i stopped to visit friends, and whilst there, my left hand and arm got numb! Lasted about 30 minutes> Went home, was o.k. until next morning, it came back, not as bad. Wife called my Dr. who promptly told her to call the ambulance, which she did! they hauled me off to hospital, about 15 miles, all trussed up like a Christmas goose! got me in there, into emergency room, hooked me up to lots of cables, did a bunch of tests, got me a bed, and stuffed me into it!

WHOOSH!!

Next morning breakfast came! Now, you all have heard about hospital food? Good food there! All meals were great!

Any way, after a lot of tests, they decided i had experienced a TIA, which is a mini stroke, and a warning of maybe a bigger one later. The only thing missing from the food tray was salt, which appears to be the bug-a-boo which causes the problem!

So, i have joined the ranks of the "pill-poppers", which, if it will keep my heart from going "BLOOIE", i'll keep taking! I feel great now, have had no more episodes, and am looking forward to next summer camping! And, no salt, or very little of it. Wife, Ruth, is a good cook, so i'll be in good hands!

Now, if it ever warms up and the snow melts, i'll get back down to my garage and continue my exercise regimen--pulling lawn mower ropes, and pushing tractors around, combined with repairing the overhang on my motor home, which is about 3/4 done!

Hey Rusty, I'm glad to hear you are okay! That must have been scary but it sounds like you're handling it well!

I've been busy down in my art studio making all kinds of creations and haven't been able to get online often! I'm obsessed with my latest projects and am actually planning on how to take my glass studio camping for the summer!

Meanwhile, I'm dreaming of a new tent. I already had my old Eureka tent from my prekids days repaired once and the kids broke the zipper again! So, I'm thinking it's time.... I have a few smaller backpacking type tents but I'm thinking I'd really like one of those ll bean tents with the screened front porch. I need something that will fit me, husband and two dogs. The kids now have their own tent so no excuse to break my tent anymore!

The same symptoms happened to my 80-year-old mother. We took her to the ER, where at first they couldn't find anything particularly wrong other than her usual old-lady complaints. It turned out to be a UTI. UTIs cause all kinds of symptoms in the elderly that are different from what happens to younger people. She's fine now, after a course of antibiotics -- or as fine as she ever gets. Her appetite has returned, and digestion is okay. Hospice would have been premature for her.

I had no problem at all with the review. It makes perfect sense. I just thought it was funny that they sent the notice when I was already at the lowest-price level, though I suppose they just send it to everyone when there's a review. And you're right, Chisue. My Imitrex has been a lifesaver. I'm completely non-functional without it when I have a migraine, which fortunately isn't often. I can barely even see, because of the aura, let alone move.

Spanish, I am so glad you got to the bottom of your issues. You are the perfect example of why we all need to be our own advocates. Mistakes are made. A CVS made an error on one of my DD's prescription when she was very young. That is when I started using my local family run pharmacy exclusively. But still, we need to check everything. The local pharmacy is also a compounding center. Handmade specific meds for the individual can be so very important. Do not get stressed out about exercising. Your priority is your physical well being first. I think that walking would be the best exercise for you at this point. Keep us posted!

Long ago, there used to be an idea that it was unhealthy to have plants and flowers in your room at night. In hospitals, nurses would have to take flowers out of patient rooms at night. You can sometimes notice this in old books and movies. This was based on the actually true fact that plants respire and use oxygen, while they are not producing oxygen at night - however, the amount they use is tiny, so it was a giant misconception that plant respiration possibly lower the oxygen concentration in a room. Perhaps your mom is remembering being told something like this by her elders.
