It's a good family hike that any age can handle.

Why do they put trees right in the middle where everybody wants to walk?

1. The ice looks sure LOOKS thick enough to skate on...
2. No need for reservations. This place NEVER fills up.
3. The "RUSTIC" cabins along the bay sound nice...

number three was a hoot! Rustic cabins along the bay sounded really secluded and romantic. Found out people used them as a base camp for crabbing and fishing. Place stank so bad of fish guts! Then, we laughed when we saw a sachet of potpourri on the pillows. AS if....

"You should have been here last week ... the fish were really biting!"

"That stretch of river isn't that deep, you should be able to wade it."

"The black flies won't be out yet for at least a couple more weeks!"

"This river is pretty deep here" (my first boat ride on the Potomac River with hubby) said right before we hit that rock and broke the lower unit on the little 10 horse motor. The water was waist high and he ended up dragging the boat to shore.

Asking a farmer where something is located: Just go down this road until you see the red barn, turn left until you see a white church at the next cross roads, turn left, go about 1 mile, at next road turn left, then look for a red barn, turn left there, only a little bit further from there! HHMMM!!
We were coming up thru W. Virginia one evening on our trip, so after getting gas we asked where the nearest campground was. The guys gave us directions, so after some driving, we ended up back at the same gas station! they told us again, and we did it again, and, yeah, you know--
We ended up staying in a gas station near the highway outside of town! But not that one!
The boys at our local gas station used to pull that trick on folks new to the area, but they finally grew up!

That is funny, R14, (only if it doesn't happen to you)

A friend of mine is a park ranger and had some funny questions asked of him in the years he was a park ranger at Bryce Canyon:

1. What time of the year do the deer turn into moose?
2. Do you get lightning here when it storms?
3. When can you snowshoe in the park? (when it snows...)

He had others, but I can't think of them...

Of COURSE I packed the tent poles!

It really doesn't matter if we get there after dark; it's an easy hike.

Ho ho ho! It's especially funny when the two quotes happen during the same trip.

From my 13 year old daughter at a remote wilderness site: "I didn't break that tent pole. I was just leaning a little bit on the side of the tent." Thank God for duct tape.

Where's the dog? I thought you were watching the dog!

From a student camper tasting lobster ice cream in Bar Harbor: "Do they put real crabs in it?"

Yeah, the bull dozer was making no. 25 when our camping club arrived! And, all sites were MUDDY!
good thing they had the dozer, to pull us out on Sunday afternoon!

1) The sign says fishing, how come there aren't any here. Said by a fellow camper last summer.
2) It never rains, only when we decide to go camping. Said by me all the time.
3) Will it take as long to put the fire out that it took to start it. DUH!!! Fellow camper remarked.
4) I only ate some of the smores, the rest is for the big black bears, it is their best dessert. Said the little (about 7 yr old) girl a few years ago camping in Maine. It was so cute.

Jerry, I was not brave enough to try it! Maybe this summer if they are giving out samples in Bar Harbor I'll try it! I heard that it mostly tasted like vanilla, that the lobster flavor was not strong but it had real lobster bits in it!
