Question on a new message board...

If I take the time to sit up a new message board with different forums.

One that will allow you to Edit your post, appoint Moderators to run it, along with other neat stuff.

NOT HAVE advertisements, pop ups or other bull that everyone hates about this place now days.

Will it fly?

I tested one a for about two weeks a while back and shut it down. I can have another set up and running in one night If I can get enough interested people to make it worth my time, money and effort.

It's now Friday morning. I will check back here Sunday morning and if enough interest is shown for a new site. I will be glad to set it up and get it going for you guys/gals.

I'm a member of that forum too and yes I get the same error message. Sometimes when a link is posted, so many people click on it at once that the site can't handle all the sudden traffic. Or, could be that their server is having problems today, or the web master may be doing some maintenence. Wait til things settle down a bit and try again. It's a nicely set up group. I don't have mine hung up yet, but I just finished making my own message board. I used a piece of foam insulation board that we had leftover from construction. I then covered it in quilt batting, using spray adhesive to join them. Then I covered it in a fabric I found, again using the spray adhesive. I took my glue gun and used that to attach the edges of the fabric to the back of the board, wrapping and pulling it as neatly as I could. Using my glue gun again, I applied two different colors of ribbons , crossing them in x patterns across the board. Each place where the ribbons crossed each other, I glued a decorative button on. Push pins easily go into the foam, or I can just tuck notes under the ribbons. The entire project only took just over an hour and I spent a little over $15 for the fabric and ribbons. I already had the foam (which is fairly inexpensive at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) quilt batting, buttons and glue. I wanted a large board to hold all the school papers, calendar, and such, so we made it 40 inches by 68 inches. However, the foam is easily cut to any size you want. I am glad that you think that way Toilet Paper Life.
For when I set up a board for someone. I make sure that the The moderating team has the power to ban people.

For the rest of you. Below is a small sample of a board that I quickly set up for the folks at The Kitchen Table that is fed up with the garden web. A new board can easily be set up for camping also.

The current board has a reasonable amount of advertising, this keeps costs down for the developer. There is a minimal amount of gimmmics, again keeping costs down. I think the current board is a pretty good one.

I didn't realize I was engaging in personal attacks or name calling when I was queried for a response. I did not understand that my dissenting opinion might be grounds for a ban on participation. My apologies.

I'll check it out. I haven't been able to post here very often but it's not because I don't like it! Life has been crazy with a lot of people sick and we are also trying to start a business! However, I AM starting to plan for my summer camp job in Maine! It can't be too soon!

I think a newer style message board would be pretty nice.

I haven't seen many tent camping forums get much use though, I search around for them from time to time to see if anything new comes up. So far this one seems to be the most active, has good information and good members. Other than this the only other thing I've found to be informative and kept up to date is some of the yahoo groups.

So, I think a new message board would be nice, but from looking around at other places on the net it doesn't appear as though it would get much traffic.
