Solid White Sparrow?

This cutie has been frequenting the feeder for about a week now. It doesn't appear to be albino and I have never seen a solid white bird like this before. Is there such a thing as a solid white sparrow? It seems to come and go with a flock of sparrows and is the same in size. Could it be a juvenile?

Any info would be appreciated.

Sure looks like it could be an albino House Sparrow...the shape of the head, beak and body do suggest that....interesting.

ive seen a bird like that ONCE! it was with a group of house sparrows. I thought it was a lost canary (i just saw it fly away)or something but i never thought of it being albino. hmmm.

Rachel - we do see them in the nicer weather, but not as much. They seem to be a bit more bolder this winter than in past winters. kendra - thanks. Why I love digital photography; take a whole bunch, one will turn out nice.

Yep, Kendra is right about the sparrows. Oh and as far as taking too long to get the worms out, most Blues need to be trained to go to a feeder. They aren't normally feeder birds so they won't check out feeders looking for worms. You have to train them by putting a dish under where they normally perch, they will see the movement and drop down on it. Once they know you have worms in a dish for them however, then you can move the dish to where you want it.

Very nice photo! I still have white-throats here in southeast MA. They're here all winter and may breed here as well although I usually don't see them in the summer. They've been singing away so they may be intent on staying around. I've been learning how to see them more regularly (bribe them with nyjer seed on the ground and look just before it gets dark) so maybe this summer I'll keep seeing them. I've never seen them before this year. When I looked it up in my book (it's 25 yrs. old), it said the territory was northern Canada and the west coast of Canada and the southern parts of the U.S. We have a lot of them here this year. They seem to be a friendly bird, not spooking to easy. I can easily walk within a few feet of them. Marg

It seems like I read somewhere that a TRUE albino bird has to have pink eyes, but there's such a thing as partial albinism where bird is white, or mostly white, but with regular colored eyes. He's a cutie!

How cool is that!!! Leucistic in deed. I found about leucistic when a chickadee frequenting the feeder had white tail feathers...the rest of it was normal.
