The Rogers area is very nice. Because of Wal-Mart there are enough prosperous citizens to keep the library and city parks in good shape. I don't live there and don't really know but I was impressed when I visited. The craft fairs in the area are fun. You will be able to find yard ornaments if you like that sort of thing.

I saw one yesterday too. It surprised me. I don't think I've seen them in October before. I don't have any feeders filled but I have lots of salvia blooming. I have only seen one tanager in my life several years ago when we were in Branson. I think it was a Summer Tanager. I thought it seemed as red as a cardinal but slightly smaller and no crest. There are also Scarlet Tanagers that are bright red with black wings. Could it have been one of those Ceresone? Here is a link that might be useful: Summer Tanager

I mix sunflower seeds with millet for the birds. I buy it at farm store in town and it reasonably priced. Plus, they get old broken up bread, and suet(I get free from grocery store). I also have a bird bath that I wash out and fill each day. Since I have had the same plastic bird bath for years, I decided to buy a pretty, green metal one this year. The birds would not use it, so I had to put the ugly plastic one back out and within a day they were lining up taking turns taking a bath. I think my birds are spoiled.
