Chattering blues

Last eve 4 blues were high in a black walnut tree, chattering to each other (I guess) Two were males but the overcast sky & height made it hard to tell what the other two were. As they kept chattering 2 Y-R warbler & a Tennessee warbler came over. I didn't think too much of that as they were hawking insects. Then a blue jay came, a phoebe, 2 titmice, a chickadee, 2 cardinals & finally a Hairy wp. All the time the 4 blues were chattering. The birds didn't act like they do when a hawk or an owl are around although I kept looking in case there was. Eventually after about 10 minutes the blues left & the others followed soon after. I am not sure what this behavior was all about. Any ideas?
