OT......other birds

Hi....for the last 3 days our seed eating birds have been a no-show....we have lots of cardinals, mourning doves, chickadees, bluejays, red-winged blackbirds and a few others....never ever have our feeders remained full for even a day much less 3 days....we hear and see the cardinals in the bushes next to our yard and see the jays flying in the trees but they dont come to the feeders....the mourning doves are nowhere to be seen or heard...very, very unusual...even in the winter we constantly have to refill the feeders daily....i havent witnessed any predator attacks lately but have in the past (hawk) and the birds always returned within an hour or so and sometimes sooner...we looked around all the feeders and there are no feathers or any other sign of predator attack....its about to drive hubby crazy as these are "his" birds....any thoughts on whats going on would be appreciated !!!...Thank you !!!

Bren, I don't think you have cause to worry. There are lots of natural foods for the birds to eat this time of year--mine are in the dogwood and crabapple trees and the finches are busy on the coneflowers and black-eyed susan. Plus, there are plenty of insects as well. Be patient because cold weather will be here before you know it and your feeders will be busy again.
