This is a first....

My Orioles found my mealworm feeder this morning. I swear they can talk to each other too cause once one found it they were all going in and eating...they cleaned the dish out in no time and I had to go refill it. We have lots of orioles around yet...I know they will be gone soon but I love having them. One day we had 12 fledlgings up by the deck. Here is a male with a mealworm from this morning...

also the third nesting fledges have come to the feeder as of last week...here is a shot of one of them...

Oh my goodness, that baby Blue has the cutest expression. So happy to hear they are back! And to have Orioles coming to your feeder is just awesome. This is the first year I haven't seen any Orioles. I just love your pictures. They are so expressive and clear. Thanks so much for posting those amazing pictures.

Thanks Kendra!I think the second nesting fledges were chased away once the third nesting fledges started following the adults more. It was odd they let them stay that long and then chased them away but I did see them chasing them. I like it better when they let the other fledges stay around throughout the other nestings but I guess the adults don't always see it that way. The third nesters are coming to the feeder more regularly now however they never seem to be all together, I will see three at a time for the most part but I do know I saw all five one day last week and another time four together. So I really have no clue if they are all here yet or not. There were five in the third nesting...

Yes, those definitely look like mealies. Whenever I had mealies (never on C.o. - green jade), I only used rubbing alcohol; but that seems to be quite a few of them. Hope someone will comment - offer tips about using systemic. That is quite large plant, and I see few main stems/trunks. Hope you don't mind me saying that I see some etiolation too. If I was looking after it, I would repot, likely divide - but that is not absolutely neccessary, I just prefer single trunk per pot - and also prune off all etiolated growth. In July, I repotted larger jade (not as big as yours) and had to tie it. It is firm now - roots have obviously established. It is all single trunk, branching quite low: I got rid of smaller plants growing from roots, and pruned roots. This is best done during active growth. Large rocks are there for extra support. Pot is not very deep, rather wide - offering more stable base. I use mix of perlite and grit with very small amount of turface for succulents.

Annie1992 — i’m with you on that grade B real maple syrup! That’s the only thing we use when we want maple syrup. That corn syrup stuff has a mouth feel that is like cardboard gelatin. I rarely buy or use Cool Whip, but one of my in-laws used to make this particular dessert with Cool Whip and strawberries because her children liked it. She use frozen strawberries but with a lot of fresh strawberries on top. I do remember the polysorbate 60 from reading the list of ingredients decades ago. It really is gooood. Probably a recipe from one of those “Women’s Magazines” decades ago. I made this for a party, and to keep in the fast ingredients spirit, use canned whipped cream (one can discern).

Door jams and trim installed first or carpet first?

Thanks. Well, that is what I thought. I should have said we were not ready to buy "additional flooring". We reused the old carpet, and there is no way to match it. We have built 3 or 4 homes, and carpet was always last. However, I think I DO need to tell him what kind of flooring I will be using, right? If I put a laminate floor plank or vinyl floor plank on the floor, will the baseboard trim be installed lower than it would be with carpet? Or does it not matter? Another question... In a bedroom doorway, where should the carpet end? Inside the bedroom, outside the bedroom, or halfway in between (in the center of the door jamb)? Will the closed bedroom door cover the carpet? It looks like he planned to use an iron to attach the new carpet to the old carpet, maybe? The two different carpets will not match at all, which is why I told him I was not ready. So, will he have to iron on a small strip of old carpet? (A couple of inches wide?) Doesn't the edge need to be attached to a carpet tack strip and turned under? Or does it get finished differently with plank flooring? I doubt I will find carpet to match so I am leaning toward vinyl planks. Thanks.

I've had the same experience here. Once they start bringing the fledgelings to the feeder, there are usually one or two brave ones that follow mom and dad in. I know the others are in the trees because when the adults land in the tree, I can hear them begging. I rarely see them all together at first. But eventually they usually get brave enough to try the feeder. Especially the last clutch which the parents seem to prepare for winter by making sure they know how to use the mealworm feeder.
