A fully loaded cart is going to be heavy, if it is stocked with all your cleaning supplies. And you will have to store the cart somewhere and then push or pull it to where you need to clean. My suggestion would be to store your cleaning supplies as much as possible where you use them. So, a set of cleaners, sponges, wipes, paper towels, etc. in each bathroom. A second set in the kitchen. Plus the required broom/mop to clean the floor in each room. If you have something else that needs frequent cleaning, say a glass top coffee table in the living room, store glass cleaner and a roll of paper towels in the living room. If your house has two floors, a vacuum cleaner for each floor. Store brooms all or most of the rooms where you use them. Or get a Dustbuster-type thing for several rooms, so there is always one nearby when you need one. Basically, my suggestion is the opposite of what you are looking for. Instead of gathering all the cleaning supplies in one place and dragging them all with you every time you clean something, I'd have you walk in to a room and open a cabinet and have all the cleaning supplies for that room right there. Much less work overall. For example, you could store dusters, dusting spray (if you use it), paper towels, and glass cleaner in your living room in a cabinet, closet or cute basket. The vacuum could live in a closet in the hallway right outside the living room. The dining room would have a second set of dusters, towels, and cleaners, and share the same vacuum. Each bedroom could have a Dustbuster, dusters, glass cleaner and paper towels neatly stashed away. All this would take up a bit of storage space, but it sounds as if your energy levels are more important than space in your case.

t-bird, surgery is 1/31. On the list: Everything! (But we've painted most of what has to be painted, so my job, unlike yours, is just getting rid of stuff and cleaning every surface, like an old-fashioned spring cleaning.) We're empty-nesters so there are no kids' rooms to clean or kids to give attention and time to. Kitchen is about 90% done, foyer (only a little coat closet and some tile and the front door) is done. Workout room was just painted and is finished except for the closet, which is full of old political-campaign paraphernalia I need to box up or get rid of, and I don't really care much if I get to that or not. Downstairs too is my office, which is a sea of papers, and a TV room and guest bath. Upstairs I have the LR, dining area, and MB, along with 1 1/2 baths. So I may be able to get all of this done. I move very slowly because of my knee, so it takes a while. I'm not going to stress about it; whatever I get done will be better than what it was before I started. Storage area in basement and garage will probably wait until later. I'll join you in a 2012 cleanup project. Mine will be to finish up whatever I haven't done, if anything, before I go to the hospital, and then to keep things in order. I'm the messy one and DH is very neat. Good luck to both of us, t-bird. Cleaning the floors. Somehow that makes everything else seem clean & fresh too. localeater, yes to blowing out the radiators! We used a leaf blower to clean out the baseboard heaters in my son's new house (elderly owner, years of housekeeping neglect). There were chunks of black fuzz that blew out, and 20 minutes later you could still see dust floating in the air where the sun streamed in through the windows.

We had good results even though we tore down walls, ripped up flooring, and did plenty of drywall work. It’s so easy to dig in and just start demo. We put a bit of time and work into it in advance, but after the remodel cleanup was not bad. We segregated the construction area from the remainder of the house. We built a temporary wall consisting of 2x4s and plastic sheeting. We stapled sheeting tightly on both sides of our temporary wall and padded the top with carpet scraps to protect the ceiling as much as possible. We completely taped off any other interior doorways (both sides) between the construction zone into the remainder of the house. We turned off the house’s air circulation and plugged the registers and the air return vent in the construction area. We didn’t walk into our living area with dust covered shoes or clothes. The construction zone had its own entry/exit. The real dust buster for us though came by jury rigging an old furnace fan we happened to have. I’m sure other types of fans could work. We blocked the fan into a window right in the midst of the construction. Onto the exit end of the fan we taped a 100’ length of lightweight (like a baggie) plastic tubing and ran it far from the house. I found the12” by 100’ plastic tubing at a janitorial supply for about $20. With a small window open at the far end of the construction zone, that fan pulled the dust out of the construction zone and out to the far ends of the yard so that it didn’t just float back in. We used a roomba to sweep the construction zone frequently. We ran it a LOT and it did an awesome job. Then, when work was done, and our temporary wall removed we vacuumed the floors daily with roomba. It wasn’t long before the house was more dust free than ever, and is remaining so.
