I have made several of the teapot birdhouses. I like them but I feel I need to add a word of caution? warning? here's what I noticed? Whatever. I have had problems with alien birds trying to commandeer the houses from native birds. I lost a brood of Carolina wrens to English sparrows last summer. I also had nasty starlings trying to force out my downy woodpecker pair. I took care of both issues but the baby wrens were still lost. All that being said, I do like the teapot bird houses and the birds seem to like them also. But I have to be vigilant about who's trying to move in. I think the main problem with the houses is the size of the doorway. As yet I haven't figured out a way to make it smaller yet keep it looking like a teapot. Any ideas?

This bed is only about 1/2 of what I have,lol. We built this house ourselves and have lived in it for almost 30 yrs. My 3 yo grand daughter that lives with me considered all the plants on the ground, her flowers (including the tomatoes) and she loves to water them. She cant wait for the tomoatoes to get red. She picked one green recently,lol. I have a long 20 foot bed in the front that has a few roses, and some overgrown hedges that are coming out soon, with a ttrellis on the end and a climbing rose, another short one around the pond, and another 10 feet long shade bed next to the back of the house, that I have some hosta and bleeding heart. The bleeding are are getting moved,they are too big now. I like to use this bed for cuttings. I need to rearrange things in the 60 foot bed, now that I am getting it filled, but figured it might be best to wait for spring.I tend to just find a bare area and put a plant in. But I would like a more organized look, especially if I can ever get my hubby to haul me in some mulch. Tammy

Thanks all. And I certainly dont mind if you borrow the idea. The MG is Light Blue Star. There is a pink one on there too. But the blooms are always closing back up on that one by the time I get up, and I am an early riser. I am up by 6:45 AM, and usually outside wondering around by 7:30AM. The MG was a little reluctant at first to climb the 4x4, so there were some daylilly or glad leaves nearby that werent blooming (helped by the deer), and I pulled a few of these straps and tied around the pole on the lower third,and this got them going.
